3rd Information and Training Seminar – Tero PC

The 3rd Information and Training Seminar of the REBOUND project was held on 6 April 2026 at DAK Pylaia, Thessaloniki, engaging athletes and club staff in another impactful training activity.

The session was delivered by Giota Michaïlidou, who guided participants through the practical application of circular economy principles in sports clubs, with a focus on everyday actions within basketball environments.

The seminar aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of sustainability and support its integration into daily club operations. Key concepts such as waste reduction, resource reuse, and responsible management practices were presented in a clear and accessible way.

Particular emphasis was placed on hands-on examples and good practices, including book-sharing initiatives within clubs, reuse of sports equipment, repair of materials, and recycling or donation of sports clothing. These practical cases helped participants bridge the gap between theory and real-life implementation.

The main takeaway was that sustainable transformation in sport is both feasible and impactful when driven by simple, practical steps. Athletes and coaches were encouraged to act as role models, promoting environmentally responsible behaviors within their teams and communities.

The seminar reinforced the vision that the future of basketball lies in combining performance with responsibility, paving the way for a more sustainable, circular, and forward-looking sports ecosystem.
