The 2nd Information and Training Seminar of the REBOUND project took place on 31 March 2026 at DAK Pylaia, Thessaloniki, bringing together athletes and staff from local sports clubs.
The seminar was delivered by Giannis Tsiaras, Project Manager of the REBOUND project, who introduced participants to the core principles of the circular economy and their application in the field of sport, with a particular focus on basketball.
Through an interactive and engaging format, the session presented practical ways in which sports clubs can reduce waste, reuse resources, and adopt more sustainable practices in their daily operations. The training combined short presentations, open discussion, and real-life examples, encouraging active participation from both young athletes and coaches.
The key message of the seminar was clear, sustainability in sport does not require complex changes, but can be achieved through simple, everyday actions. Participants were encouraged to recognize their role as agents of change and to actively contribute to more responsible and environmentally friendly sports environments.
The seminar highlighted that the transition towards circular practices in sport is not only necessary, but also an opportunity to shape a more sustainable and resilient future for basketball and grassroots sports across Europe.
