REBOUND Project Presented at the 29th International Conference of Physical Education & Sports in Thessaloniki

The REBOUND Project was successfully presented at the 29th International Conference of Physical Education & Sports of EGVE, held at the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki on 9 May 2026.

The presentation was delivered by Giota Michailidou on behalf of TERO PC, the project coordinator, and focused on how basketball clubs and sport organisations can adopt more sustainable and environmentally responsible practices through circular economy principles.

During the session, participants had the opportunity to explore practical and easy-to-implement ideas for reducing waste, reusing sports equipment, promoting recycling initiatives, and encouraging greener operational practices within grassroots basketball organisations.

Special emphasis was given to the role of coaches, athletes, families, and local communities in creating a culture of sustainability in sport. The presentation also showcased examples of good practices collected through the REBOUND Project and highlighted the importance of education and awareness in shaping more responsible sport environments.

As highlighted during the presentation:

“Every basket we score should also be a victory for the planet. REBOUND is not just a project; it is the beginning of a new era of grassroots basketball in Europe.”

The REBOUND consortium would like to thank the organisers and all participants for their interest and valuable discussions on the future of sustainable sport.Readers can also explore the REBOUND Manual, available in the Deliverables section of our website: REBOUND Deliverables
