REBOUND in Action: Good Practices by Evnikos

The REBOUND project continues to promote the integration of circular economy principles into grassroots sport, highlighting practical and replicable solutions that contribute to sustainability, environmental awareness, and community engagement.

Within this framework, a notable example is provided by our partner Evnikos Sports Club, which has developed and implemented impactful initiatives aimed at encouraging reuse and reducing waste within the local sports community.

Among these initiatives, the actions “Pass a Book” and “No Empty Clothes” stand out as simple yet effective practices that actively involve young athletes and the wider community. Through these activities, participants are encouraged to adopt more responsible behaviours, contributing to waste reduction, more efficient use of available resources, and stronger community engagement.

These practices demonstrate how grassroots sport can serve as a powerful platform for promoting environmental responsibility. By integrating sustainability into everyday sports activities, such initiatives foster awareness and behavioural change, particularly among younger generations.

At the same time, the REBOUND project places strong emphasis on the identification and promotion of good practices that can be transferred and replicated in different contexts across Europe. The example of Εύνικος Basket clearly illustrates how local initiatives can generate meaningful impact while contributing to broader European sustainability objectives.

By showcasing and disseminating such practices, REBOUND supports sports organisations in adopting more sustainable approaches, reinforcing the role of sport as a driver for positive environmental and social change.
