On 6 February 2026, the project partner Evnikos Sports Club successfully implemented the 1st information and training seminar within the framework of the European project REBOUND (Reshaping Basketball Organizations Using Circular Economy and New Developments).
The seminar was organised with the objective of strengthening awareness and understanding of circular economy principles and exploring their practical integration into grassroots basketball structures. Participants included parents, athletes, and representatives of the club, creating a collaborative environment for discussion and exchange.
During the session, the key concepts of circular economy in sport were presented, alongside practical approaches that basketball clubs can adopt in order to reduce waste, optimise the use of equipment, and gradually transition towards more sustainable operational models. Particular emphasis was placed on feasible and scalable actions that can be embedded in the daily functioning of a sports organisation.
This first seminar marked an important milestone in the local implementation of the REBOUND project, laying the foundation for knowledge development, community engagement, and the long-term promotion of environmental responsibility within grassroots basketball.
