REBOUND is a European initiative designed to integrate circular economy principles into the management and operation of basketball clubs, transforming them into models of sustainability and environmental responsibility. By promoting waste reduction, resource optimization, and sustainable practices, the project seeks to redefine the role of sports organizations in fostering a greener future.
Through a transnational collaboration between partners from Greece, Spain, and Italy, REBOUND focuses on minimizing waste, reusing sports equipment, optimizing resource management, and educating athletes, coaches, and sports managers on implementing circular economy principles within the sports sector.
Funded by the Erasmus+ Sport program, the project will develop a comprehensive educational curriculum, test and evaluate its application across different basketball environments, and promote best practices through targeted dissemination activities.
As environmental challenges continue to rise, the sports sector has a key role to play in
promoting sustainability.
REBOUND envisions a future where basketball clubs become active contributors to environmental protection, integrating eco-friendly solutions into their daily operations – from equipment management and facility maintenance to event organization and community engagement.
